The going rate in this valley is around $599 — and that covers fifteen vents. Yours has more. Ours covers every supply and return in the house, plus photographs from inside your own ductwork.
Read the quote, not the headline
Duct cleaning in this valley is quoted two ways, and both of them move after you say yes.
The cheap version advertises somewhere between $89 and $149. That buys the furnace and a handful of vents; everything after is charged per vent. The premium version is more honest about the headline — around $599 — but that covers fifteen vents and registers, and the average Okanagan home has between twelve and twenty-eight. Vents past fifteen are billed on top, and reaching a furnace in a crawlspace is a surcharge again.
So a twenty-two vent house on a “$599” advert is $674 before anyone mentions the crawlspace. And most people find that out halfway through, standing in their own hallway, with the equipment already unpacked.
Both quotes share the same feature: the number you agreed to is not the number you pay.
Ours is $489, covering the same fifteen vents and registers — $110 less before we start. Every vent after that is a flat $10, published, and there is no crawlspace surcharge. What actually gets cleaned
- Every supply and return run, pulled under negative air so what comes loose ends up in the machine instead of being pushed back into your rooms.
- The trunk lines — the main runs off the furnace, which is where the heaviest build-up sits and where a per-vent operator has no reason to go.
- The blower wheel and motor housing. This is the part that matters most for airflow and it is the part most commonly skipped. A blower caked in dust moves measurably less air, and no amount of duct work fixes that.
- Every register and cold-air return cover, removed and washed rather than wiped in place.
- Before and after photographs from inside your own ducts — not a stock image of somebody else’s house, which is the industry’s favourite trick.
When it is actually worth doing
Duct cleaning is not annual maintenance and anyone telling you it is wants your money more than they want your trust. The cases where it genuinely pays:
- After renovation or construction. Drywall dust is the single worst thing that goes into a duct system and it goes in by the bucket.
- After a wildfire season where smoke got into the house.
- New home, unknown history. Especially if the previous owners had pets and you do not.
- Visible discharge from the registers, or dust settling again within a day of cleaning.
- Every six to eight years as a reasonable default for an ordinary home.
If your system does not need it, we will tell you. We would rather clean your dryer vent and have you call us for the exterior in spring than sell you hundreds of dollars of work your house did not need.

Furnace and ducts — straight answers
How does the vent count work?
The $489 base covers the first fifteen vents and registers, which is most of an average home. Anything above that is a flat $10 each, published up front. We count with you before we start, we do not charge extra to reach a furnace in a crawlspace, and nothing gets added on the day.
How long does it take?
Two to three hours for a typical home. Larger homes take longer, and a second furnace in the same home adds $424.
Do I need to be home?
Someone needs to let us in, because we work inside the house and we need access to every register. After that you can get on with your day.
Will it help with allergies?
Sometimes, and we are careful about this claim. Cleaning removes what is in the ducts; it does not change what comes in through your windows or off your carpets. If dust is visibly discharging from your registers it will help a lot. If it is not, a better filter may do more than we can.
